Read moreSoftball Australia provides an opportunity for players to excel in the sport through 4 national teams: the Aussie Steelers, Aussie Spirit, Aussie Pride and Aussie Colts. Selection for each team is the goal of many aspiring young Softball players.
Players are developed for the national teams through the long term athlete development pathway that includes selection in a club team initially before progressing to an association team and finally a state team. Each state team competes annually at an Australian championship in their respective age group which is a selection event for the national team.
A number of visiting teams tour regularly and provide an important opportunity to play and compete in match conditions with an additional benefit of being introduced to the Australian culture.
The 4 national teams represent Australia's senior and junior men and women's Softball teams at the ISF World Championships. The Aussie Steelers and the Aussie Spirit are the names of the senior men and women's teams. The junior women and men's teams are known as the Aussie Pride and Aussie Colts. All 4 teams have performed admirably on the world stage and have contributed to the number 1 ranking in the world for Australia.
