Illawarra Softball's mixed senior teams took the opportunity to compete for the Illawarra Challenge Cup at Blacktown International Sportspark, with the help of sponsorship from Illawarra Credit Union.
The four teams hired buses and travelled to Blacktown to experience play on the Olympic Diamonds.
With tight competition throughout the day, Warriors and Dapto Panthers finished on equal points and met in the Final. Scores were locked at one all until the 5th innings, when the Warriors took a 3-1 lead. The Panthers then lifted to score three runs to win the Final 4-3.
Game highlights: Third baseman, Shannon Horwood (Panthers) took a superb line drive catch in the 4th. Triples by Paul Salter (Warriors) and Tony Smith (Panthers).
